Long time since I don’t post anything. Well, I found a reason to do it. Lately I’ve been listening to Lvmen, a post-metal band from Czech Republic. Definitely not the common origin of rock bands we listen to, but it seems that they’re making this kind of sound for years (starting in 1995), even before all this US bands (with the exception of Neurosis and few more) started to reclaim some attention, passing through the absolute underground to a more popular status. Anyway and besides the country they live in, they are eccentric in their music, naming all their songs as numbers either in arabic (typical) or roman signs. I guess it’s alright since they don’t make choruses that you can remember. They have just released a new album called “Heron” (also, checkout their previous “Mondo” and the self-explanatory “An anthology of already released songs”, both released in 2006) and they seem to be tending to a more post-rock sound, more progressive and instrumental (they hardly use voices, preferring some atmospheric voice samples here and there) and also less obscure and more hypnotic. Maturity, I guess. It’s alright, I prefer ‘em that way.
Obviously there’s a particular reason to talk about Lvmen in this blog and that’s that one of their members is really handsome… or so I think. It’s the bass player, a big boy, blond and with a cute face and tattooed arms. I love men whose looks tell that they’re strong, rude, aggressive, but have a face in which you (think you) can see that they’re nice and friendly persons. This is exactly the case with this beautiful guy whose name I don’t know because I’m unable to find in Internet, but I’m sure you’ll recognize him in the photos bellow (the biggest one, the 3rd shot is the nearest to how he look right now). I saw the band recently live and I was delighted of seeing him bending over his bass, looking up like if he was levitating, with relaxed face enjoying in a stage of ecstasy induced by their own music. Seriously I loved the music, I looked at the other members too, but he was conveniently in the center of the stage, appearing to be the frontman (although he didn’t sing a note), leaving their peers in the shadows of the corners. I won’t complain, I just wish I had said him something after the show, but I’m too shy and probably I won’t be able to talk much to a Czech guy, even if we both spoke English. Hope you like him and should anybody know his name, please tell. Hope he doesn’t mind having a follower not just for his music, hehe. And please, listen to their albums, go see him if they go near your city and support music. 😉
